Create Custom Metrics

You can generate custom metrics either for your entire workspace or limit it to specific dashboards. This guide provides instructions on creating a custom metric in scenarios where Adriel lacks the necessary metric for visualization.

  • Open a widget's settings.

  • In the "Metric" section, select "Edit."

  • Select "+ Custom metric" near the search bar.

  • Name your custom metric.

Note: Do not use special characters in this field as it will not save.

  • Choose the desired display format for the value: numeric (123), percentage (%), or currency ($). Additionally, specify the number of decimal digits.

  • Begin building your custom metric by selecting anywhere in the white box.
Note: Although there's no visible cursor, clicking on the white box allows you to proceed to the next step.

  • Select "+ Metric."

  • Search or scroll to find the metric you need and click on it.

  • The metric will be added to the formula cell.

For this demonstration, we'll multiply Ad spend by 1.03 to add a 3% margin.

  • Type "* 1.03" after "Ad spend."

We've named this custom metric "Cost," chosen "Currency" as the value, and set "0.00" for the decimal digits.

Note: You will need to follow the order of operations when creating custom metrics to make sure the calculation comes out as expected.

Note: If you want to create a custom metric using division, use the "/" symbol before adding any metrics to the formula cell.

To save, you have two options:

  • Click "Create" at the bottom right to make the custom metric available across all views (dashboards) in the workspace.

Or,

  • Click the arrow up button next to "Create" and select "Save on this view" if you have multiple custom metrics that are similar but different across different dashboards and want this custom metric to only be available in this one view.

Optionally, you can add a condition to limit the custom metric to a specific channel.

  • Select "condition."

  • In the "Search by channel..." field, click "Channel: Filter by channel."

For instance, if you filter by "Channel: LinkedIn" and then add the "Ad spend" metric to the formula cell, the custom metric will use only the LinkedIn Ad spend data.

Once created, the metric will be listed in the "Custom" section with the specified settings, and you can now use it in multiple widgets.
