Creating Custom Breakdown for Generic Data Sources

Custom breakdowns are now fully supported for generic data sources, giving your team even greater control over how your data is segmented, visualized, and analyzed — all without leaving the Adriel platform.

What’s New

Previously, custom breakdowns were only available for marketing data sources directly tied to ad platforms. With this enhancement, you can now apply custom breakdowns to any generic data source connected to Adriel — whether that’s business intelligence exports, CRM datasets, external reporting files, or third-party analytics platforms.

This update further extends Adriel’s mission to serve as a single source of truth for marketing and business data, eliminating the need for manual data wrangling or stitching reports together in spreadsheets.

How It Works

When building a custom breakdown in a generic data source table:

  • The Adriel interface automatically presents all eligible fields from your connected dataset.
  • Shared prefix logic is applied to display only compatible fields, ensuring clean, accurate breakdowns without creating mismatched aggregations.
  • This same compatibility logic mirrors what’s already in place for your marketing data sources, allowing for a consistent experience across all your dashboards.

How to Create Custom Breakdowns

  1. Create or edit a Generic Table Widget inside your Adriel workspace.
  2. Navigate to Breakdowns → + Custom Breakdown → Select Manual.
  3. Select from the list of compatible fields presented based on your connected data source.
  4. Apply your selections and update your widget to reflect the custom segmentation.

Note: Field availability is governed by prefix compatibility to ensure all breakdowns deliver accurate results without data integrity issues.
