A Step-by-Step Manual for Combining Data from Diverse Sources
Discover how to incorporate non-standard marketing data into Adriel. This article outlines step-by-step instructions for utilizing various mapping options including Google Spreadsheets, CSV files, and external databases.
Step 1: Date Settings
- Select Data Source: Choose the data source you want to blend from the available options.
-
Select Date Dimension
- Choose a date dimension from your data source.
-
- The system will automatically detect the date format.
-
-
- If the format is not supported, input the format manually.
- If this section is not visible, proceed to the next step.
-
💡 Note: With No Date Dimension
If you opt out of selecting a date dimension, the data from this source will not be filtered by date breakdown, regardless of the date range selected in your view or widget.
Step 2: Aggregation Method
- Choose Aggregation Method:
- Left Join: Combines your marketing data with additional data where all matching conditions are met. Excludes data that doesn't meet the conditions.
- Full Join: Combines your marketing data with additional data, including all data even if some conditions are not met.
For detailed examples and explanations, refer to the FAQs.
Step 3: Breakdown Mappings
- Create Mapping Rules for Breakdowns:
- Select a widget breakdown (e.g., channel, ad account) from the list (highlighted in red).
- For each widget breakdown, define a set of rules that map:
- Destination Breakdown: A marketing property (highlighted in blue).
- Source Breakdown: A corresponding field from the data source that you want to blend.
- The data will only be aggregated if all conditions are met.
💡 Note: Multiple conditions can be set for architecture-type breakdowns (e.g., channel, campaign). Other breakdowns support only one condition.
- This mapping is used for date breakdowns (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly) and as a default when no specific mapping is set.
- You can choose a previously created mapping or select "No grouping" for all data.
- ✅ Recommendation: Choose the highest level mapping (e.g., ad account) for your total mapping.
Step 4: Metrics Mappings
- Map Metrics:
- Summing Metrics: Combine metrics from marketing data and blended data sources. For example, summing Ad Spend from both sources.
💡 Note: If breakdowns or metrics names change in your data source, update the blend data settings manually.
✅ Pro Tip: To enable data filtering on specific breakdowns, if already mapped under conditions, no need to map again.
Step 5: Use Your Blended Data Source
- Save Settings:
- Click "Save" to confirm your settings.
- Your data source is now blended and can be used in all widgets alongside your marketing data sources.
Congratulations! You have successfully blended your non-standard marketing data with Adriel. For advanced data blending techniques and examples, please refer to the next guide: Blend data: FAQs.
