Adriel's new Organic V2 connectors are now live, bringing a major upgrade to the way you collect, analyze, and report on organic social media data.
Why We Updated Our Organic Connectors
Our original organic connectors for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and TikTok have served well, but as platform APIs evolved and reporting needs grew more sophisticated, it became clear that a new foundation was needed. Organic V2 connectors introduce a unified structure across all supported platforms, enabling faster queries, standardized metrics, and improved historical data handling.
To prepare for this change, the old connectors have been marked as deprecated. They will continue functioning inside existing widgets for a short transition period, but will no longer be available for new widget setups. We recommend migrating to Organic V2 as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted access to your organic data.
Key Improvements with Organic V2
-
Unified Logic Across Platforms
All organic V2 connectors now follow the same logic, meaning you can easily build dashboards that combine Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and TikTok data without needing complex blending or custom workarounds. This consistency simplifies reporting and cross-channel comparisons. -
Faster Performance with Daily Caching
Post and page data now use daily caching, significantly improving query speeds, especially at the post level. Instead of waiting for real-time API responses, most common metrics are served from a refreshed daily cache, allowing your dashboards to load faster. -
Reliable Historical Tracking
With daily cached snapshots, Adriel now maintains a historical record of your organic data, even on platforms that do not retroactively provide it. This makes it easier to track trends over time, monitor long-term engagement, and build more complete historical analyses. -
New Metric Types: Lifetime and Delta
Organic V2 introduces two views for numeric metrics:
- Lifetime metrics reflect the total value at the most recent cache (e.g., total likes on a post).
- Delta metrics show the change compared to the previous day (e.g., likes gained since yesterday).
-
Improved Dimensions and UX
We've reorganized metrics and breakdowns into intuitive categories for a cleaner selection experience when building widgets. You can now also use the "channel" dimension to easily segment performance by platform without additional setup.
How Organic V2 Connectors Behave
Post and PostType Dimensions
-
Only posts created within your selected date range are displayed.
-
Lifetime metrics show the most recent cached value.
-
Delta metrics are aggregated across the selected date range.
Data Breakdowns:
-
All posts are considered, regardless of when they were created.
-
Lifetime metrics reflect the cached value closest to the breakdown period's end (for example, the Sunday of a selected week).
Cross-Platform Widgets:
- All V2 connectors can now be combined in a single widget without enabling "blend data," thanks to standardized naming conventions.
- When blending is disabled, only shared dimensions across selected sources will be available, ensuring clean and reliable reports.
Creative Widgets:
- You can now choose to disable blending to display individual post-level performance for organic data sources.
Generic Widgets:
- It's now possible to create tables and charts using multiple Organic V2 data sources together.
- Only the dimensions that are common across all selected data sources will be active; others will be grayed out.
Note: Marketing data sources cannot be combined with organic data in the new generic widgets yet.
Platform-Specific Changes to Know
Instagram Organic Updates:
- Several older metrics (like impressions, postReelReplays, postReelTotalPlays, and postReelPlays) have been deprecated.
- New metrics, including views and post views, are now available to provide a clearer view of performance.
Post Count Improvements:
- The pagePostCount metric, now calculated based on daily cached data, is available across all platforms.
- This new method provides a more accurate count than the previous approach.
Transitioning to Organic V2
To make the most of Organic V2, we recommend:
- Rebuilding your existing widgets using the new Organic V2 data sources.
- Familiarizing yourself with the updated metric names and types.
- Recreating any blend settings you previously used between marketing and organic data sources, if needed.
The old connectors will remain operational for a short period, but switching early ensures uninterrupted reporting and access to the latest improvements.
